Engineering Manager - Industrial Systems (253jc) – Fareham – up to £55k + Benefits

This role offers an exciting opportunity for a proven engineer, ideally with military or defence engineering experience to step into a senior position overseeing design, development, and manufacturing within a dynamic industrial environment.

The Role
As Engineering Manager, you’ll lead a small team of engineers delivering innovative and compliant industrial systems (including ATEX-rated equipment). You’ll manage R&D, design, and manufacturing processes, while mentoring your team and ensuring the highest technical and safety standards.

Your leadership will shape everything from concept design to system integration balancing technical oversight with hands-on problem-solving and a commitment to operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities
• Lead and mentor the engineering team, managing workloads and priorities.
• Oversee design, documentation, and system integration for industrial machinery.
• Drive new product innovation and continuous improvement.
• Ensure compliance with ATEX, BSI 9001:2015, and relevant safety standards.
• Collaborate with internal teams and clients to deliver tailored engineering solutions.
• Support and develop staff through coaching and technical guidance.

About You
You’ll likely bring:
• A degree (or equivalent experience) in Electrical, Electronic, or Electro-Mechanical Engineering.
• 5+ years of hands-on technical or manufacturing experience, including leadership responsibility.
• Strong knowledge of fabrication, machining, and assembly.
• Proficiency with CAD software (e.g. SolidWorks, Inventor, AutoCAD).
• Solid understanding of engineering standards, safety compliance, and quality systems.
• Excellent communication, organisation, and people management skills.
