Behaviour Support Assistant – SEN School, Gateshead (Full-Time)
Protocol Education is currently recruiting for a dedicated Behaviour Support Assistant to join a specialist SEN school in Gateshead, supporting pupils with a range of additional needs including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, speech and communication difficulties, and social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs.

Key Responsibilities
- Support pupils who may display behaviours that challenge
- Assist with the implementation of individual behaviour support strategies
- Promote emotional regulation and positive coping techniques
- Support learning and engagement both in and out of the classroom
- Encourage independence, confidence and social development
- Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils
- Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, support staff and families to meet individual needs
Working Hours
Monday: 8:30am – 4:00pm
Tuesday: 8:30am – 4:00pm
Wednesday: 8:30am – 3:45pm
Thursday: 8:30am – 4:15pm
Friday: 8:30am – 3:15pm
Requirements
- Previous SEND experience is desirable but not essential
- A patient, caring and empathetic approach
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Ability to remain calm and resilient in challenging situations
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply for one
- Full-time availability

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
