We’re working with a welcoming school looking for a 1:1 Behavioural Support Assistant to support a pupil who needs consistency, understanding, and someone firmly in their corner. This role is all about building trust, providing structure, and helping one young person feel safe, supported, and ready to learn.

The role

You’ll be working closely with one pupil on a 1:1 basis, supporting them throughout the school day. This includes:

• Supporting emotional regulation and positive behaviour

• Using clear routines and de-escalation strategies

• Helping the pupil engage with learning and daily school life

• Working closely with class teachers, SEND staff, and the wider school team

• Being a steady, reassuring presence during challenging moments

The kind of person we’re looking for

You don’t need to be loud or flashy. You do need to be patient, resilient, and genuinely invested in helping young people thrive.

You might have experience as:

• A Behaviour Support Assistant or SEN Teaching Assistant

• A youth worker, mentor, or support worker

• Someone with experience supporting children with SEMH, autism, ADHD, or behavioural needs

Most importantly, you’ll bring empathy, consistency, and the confidence to stay calm when things feel tricky.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
