Senior DevOps Engineer / Cloud Infrastructure Engineer (Linux & AWS)

Location: Manchester (3 days onsite) / Home (2 days remote)

Avensure is the UK nationwide leader in the provision of professional Employment Law, Human Resources, and Health & Safety outsourced services. Our small in-house software development team supports systems used by our service teams and 4,000+ SME clients.

We are looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer / Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to own our AWS infrastructure, Linux environments, and database performance, while occasionally supporting internal IT systems.

The Role

You’ll work closely with our developers to ensure our platforms are secure, reliable, and performant. The role covers AWS, Terraform, Linux, and database optimisation, with a strong focus on automation and operational excellence.

Requirements

• Strong production experience with AWS & Terraform

• Excellent Linux knowledge (administration, tuning, debugging)

• Experience with MySQL/PostgreSQL and query optimisation

• Understanding of security best practices and compliance requirements (ISO, GDPR)

• Ability to support audits, evidence gathering, and compliance controls

• Understanding of monitoring, backups, networking, and security

• Scripting skills (Bash, Python, or similar)

• Ability to occasionally support internal IT systems and access management

Nice to Have

• CI/CD pipeline experience

• Containers / Kubernetes experience

• Cost optimisation and scaling experience
