

Graduates Wanted | Primary Teaching Assistant

A welcoming and inclusive primary school in the heart of Heaton is looking to appoint a Key Stage 1 Teaching Assistant to work closely alongside the class teacher, supporting pupils across the classroom and providing targeted group support for children with additional needs.

About the role:
This is a varied and rewarding TA role, ideal for graduates who are interested in education, child development, psychology, or SEND.
Your role will include:
- Supporting the class teacher during lessons and daily routines in a KS1 classroom
- Working with small groups of pupils with additional needs outside the classroom to reinforce learning
- Assisting with phonics, reading, writing and early numeracy activities
- Helping pupils to stay focused, confident and engaged in their learning
- Supporting positive behaviour and emotional regulation using clear routines and encouragement
- Contributing to a calm, inclusive learning environment where pupils feel safe and supported
You’ll be guided by experienced teachers and support staff and will gain hands-on experience in a structured, supportive setting.
About You
This role is open to graduates, and no prior school experience is required.
We’re looking for someone who is:
- Friendly, patient and enthusiastic about working with young children
- Interested in education, SEND, psychology, or child development
- Confident communicating with children and adults
- Willing to learn, take initiative and get involved in school life
- Reliable, positive and keen to develop professionally
Training & Support
You’ll learn on the job with ongoing guidance from school staff and your consultant. In addition, you’ll have free access to our CPD Academy, offering training in:
- Safeguarding and child protection
- SEND and SEMH support
- Behaviour management
- Phonics and classroom support strategies
