Not every classroom looks the same, and that’s exactly what makes this role special.

A vibrant and inclusive primary school in Bristol is looking for a flexible and experienced Teaching Assistant to join their team. This is a role for someone who thrives in a fast-moving school environment and is confident supporting pupils with a range of SEN, SEMH, and behavioural needs.

The school is built around the belief that every child deserves the opportunity to flourish, whatever their starting point. Staff work hard to create a nurturing, inclusive community where pupils feel safe, supported, and encouraged to achieve their best. The focus is on building strong relationships, developing character, and helping children grow both academically and personally.

It’s a school where teamwork really matters. Staff support one another, celebrate progress, and work together to ensure every pupil can access learning in a way that works for them.

What makes this role different

This isn’t a one-size-fits-all TA role.

You’ll be supporting across different year groups, working with pupils who need additional help to stay engaged, regulate emotions, and access the curriculum. Some days you might be supporting a small group in class, other days you’ll be providing 1:1 support or working within the school’s specialist resource base.

The right person will be someone who can think on their feet, stay calm under pressure, and adapt their approach to meet pupils’ individual needs.

What you’ll be doing

  • Supporting pupils with SEN, SEMH, and behavioural needs across the school

  • Providing 1:1 and small group support in the classroom

  • Assisting in the school’s specialist resource base

  • Helping pupils stay engaged with learning and classroom routines

  • Working closely with teachers and support staff to create a positive learning environment

What the school is looking for

  • Experience working with children with SEN, SEMH, or behavioural needs

  • Someone adaptable and confident working across different age groups

  • A calm, patient approach and strong relationship-building skills

  • The ability to respond positively in a busy, sometimes challenging environment

  • A genuine commitment to helping every child succeed

The role

  • Full-time position

  • Immediate start or after Easter

  • Based in a mainstream primary school with a specialist resource base

  • Opportunity to make a real impact in a supportive school community

This is the kind of role where no two days are the same. It can be challenging, but it’s also incredibly rewarding. The right support at the right moment can change a pupil’s whole experience of school.

If you’re someone who brings patience, adaptability, and a genuine passion for helping children succeed, this school would love to meet you.
