Learning Support Assistant - Sports Background Essential
Got a sporting background and a knack for motivating young people?
Some of the best Learning Support Assistants we've placed have come from sport.
Whether you're a coach, personal trainer, sports graduate, semi-professional athlete, or someone who's spent years leading teams on the pitch, court, track, or in the gym, your skills could make a huge difference in the classroom.
We're looking for a Learning Support Assistant with a genuine sports background to join a welcoming school in Bristol. This is a fantastic opportunity to use your coaching skills, resilience, and positive attitude to help pupils thrive both academically and personally.
What you'll be doing
- Supporting pupils in lessons and around the school day
- Building positive relationships and acting as a strong role model
- Helping students stay engaged, focused, and motivated
- Supporting pupils with SEND, SEMH, or additional learning needs
- Using sports-based strategies to encourage teamwork, confidence, and resilience
- Working closely with teachers and pastoral teams
What we're looking for
- Experience playing sport at a competitive level, coaching, or a recognised sports qualification
- Qualifications such as a Sports Degree, Level 2/3 Coaching Award, Personal Training qualification, Sports Science qualification, or equivalent experience
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- A calm, patient, and encouraging approach
- Passion for helping young people succeed
Why this role?
Every day is different. One minute you're helping a pupil overcome a challenge in the classroom, the next you're using your coaching mindset to boost confidence and engagement.
If you've ever helped a teammate push through a tough game, encouraged an athlete to keep going, or led a group towards a common goal, you've already got many of the skills schools are looking for.
