

SEMH Teaching Assistant
Protocol Education is working with a welcoming primary school in Bristol to recruit a compassionate and resilient SEMH Teaching Assistant for a part-time role starting in Term 6.
This mornings-only position involves supporting a pupil with SEMH needs and a background of trauma on a 1:1 basis. The school is looking for someone calm, patient, and emotionally aware, who can build a positive, trusting relationship and provide consistency throughout the school day.
The role:
- Supporting a pupil with SEMH and trauma-related needs
- Monday to Friday, 8:30am–12:30pm
- Helping the child regulate emotions and engage with learning
- Supporting routines, transitions, and positive behaviour strategies
- Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO to provide tailored support
- Pay starting from £14.25 per hour PAYE
We’re looking for someone who:
- Has experience supporting children with SEMH, trauma, or behavioural needs
- Brings a calm, nurturing, and resilient approach
- Can build strong, consistent relationships with pupils
- Is confident supporting challenging behaviour positively and safely
- Has a genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
