BSL Teaching Assistant – Gateshead (Full-Time)

We're looking for a dedicated BSL Teaching Assistant to join a specialist provision in Gateshead, supporting learners across a range of educational settings. This rewarding role is ideal for someone who is committed to inclusive education and helping every learner reach their full potential through effective communication and tailored support.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting learners who use British Sign Language (BSL) to access learning
  • Facilitating clear communication between learners, staff and peers
  • Encouraging independence, confidence and engagement in the classroom
  • Providing one-to-one and small group support tailored to individual needs
  • Working across different specialist provisions within Gateshead, adapting to a variety of educational environments

What we're looking for:

  • A BSL qualification or demonstrable experience using British Sign Language
  • A patient, flexible and compassionate approach
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • The ability to build positive relationships with learners and staff
  • A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle, as travel between different provisions across Gateshead is an essential part of the role

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
