SEND Support Assistants – Gateshead

We are working with a number of welcoming and inclusive schools across Gateshead that are looking to recruit dedicated SEND Support Assistants to support pupils with a range of additional needs.

We are seeking compassionate and motivated individuals who are passionate about making a positive difference in the lives of children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

What you'll be doing

• Supporting pupils with a variety of SEND needs throughout the school day
• Delivering targeted interventions and personalised learning support
• Encouraging participation, confidence and engagement in classroom activities
• Working closely with class teachers, SENDCOs and wider school staff
• Supporting pupils' emotional wellbeing, social development and independence
• Monitoring progress and contributing to individual support plans

What we're looking for

• Experience working with children or young people with additional needs
• A caring, patient and resilient approach
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills
• A positive, proactive and flexible attitude
• Willingness to travel across Gateshead and surrounding areas
• A driving licence and access to a vehicle is advantageous but not essential
• An Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
