Your next teaching role could be closer than you think.We’re working with a number of welcoming primary schools across Waltham Forest who are looking for a passionate Year 1 Teacher ready to make phonics click, maths come alive, and learning feel exciting every single day.Year 1 is such a pivotal stage, it’s where confidence grows, curiosity deepens, and those early building blocks really start to stick. You’ll play a key role in supporting pupils as they transition from EYFS into more structured learning, all within a team that values creativity, consistency, and genuine care.If you love seeing those “lightbulb moments” and want to be part of a school that truly supports its staff, this could be a brilliant next step.What you’ll be doing:
Planning and delivering engaging, creative lessons tailored to Year 1 pupils, in line with the National CurriculumSupporting children through the EYFS to KS1 transition, building confidence, independence, and a love for learningDelivering high-quality phonics sessions, helping pupils develop strong early reading skillsCreating a nurturing, structured classroom environment where every child feels safe, supported, and ready to learnAdapting teaching to meet the needs of SEND and EAL learners, ensuring every child can access the curriculumManaging behaviour through clear routines, positive reinforcement, and consistencyWorking closely with TAs, parents, and senior leaders to support each child’s developmentPlaying an active role in the wider school community and upholding safeguarding at all times
What we’re looking for:The right fit for this role will be someone who:
Holds UK QTSHas recent experience teaching Year 1 or KS1, with a strong understanding of early learning developmentHas secure phonics knowledge and confidence delivering it effectivelyBrings a calm, positive classroom presence, with strong behaviour managementBuilds strong, trusting relationships quickly with pupils, staff, and familiesIs passionate about helping young learners grow in confidence and independence

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
