The right support can open big doors for pupils

For some pupils, school can feel like a lot to handle. With the right person beside them, though, everything starts to click.

We’re working with a welcoming SEND school in Newham looking for a patient and supportive SEND Teaching Assistant to join their team. The school supports pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition and focuses on creating a calm, structured environment where every child can feel safe, confident, and ready to learn.

If you enjoy helping children grow in confidence and love those small “yes, they did it!” moments, this role could be a great fit.

What your day might look like

You’ll be helping pupils access learning in a way that works for them. Your day could include:

  • Supporting pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) on a 1:1 basis or in small groups

  • Helping maintain routines that create a calm and predictable classroom

  • Using visual timetables, sensory resources, and structured learning tools

  • Working closely with teachers, SENCOs, and therapy staff

  • Encouraging independence, communication, and positive social interaction

Progress might come step by step, but those steps are huge for the pupils you support.

What the school is looking for

They’re keen to meet someone who brings patience, kindness, and consistency to the classroom.

You might have:

  • Experience supporting children or young people with SEND

  • A calm, positive approach and great relationship-building skills

  • Confidence supporting pupils with autism or communication needs

  • A genuine interest in inclusive education

Experience with ASC, ADHD, or sensory learning strategies would be a real bonus.
