1:1 Learning Support Assistant (Year 4)

The right support can completely change a child’s school experience. Sometimes, all it takes is one calm, consistent person helping them navigate the day with confidence.

We’re working with a welcoming primary school in Lawrence Weston looking for a Flexible Learning Partner to provide dedicated 1:1 support within a Year 4 classroom.

The school has a high number of pupils with complex SEND needs and is looking for someone experienced, patient, and confident supporting children who may need extra help with communication, emotional regulation, routines, and classroom engagement.

You’ll become an important part of the pupil’s school day, helping them feel supported, understood, and able to access learning in a way that works for them.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Providing dedicated 1:1 support within a Year 4 classroom
  • Supporting a pupil with complex SEND needs throughout the school day
  • Helping with emotional regulation, communication, and learning activities
  • Encouraging independence, confidence, and positive social interactions
  • Working closely with the class teacher and wider SEND team to provide consistent support

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Has previous SEND experience within a school or similar setting
  • Feels confident supporting children with complex additional needs
  • Is calm, patient, and adaptable in challenging situations
  • Can build strong and positive relationships with pupils and staff
  • Is reliable, proactive, and ready to start ASAP

Due to the school’s location, driving is preferred. However, the school is accessible via train and bus routes.

Essential requirements:

  • Enhanced child-only DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one
  • References covering the last 24 months
  • Right to work in the UK
  • Overseas police checks required for any overseas stays longer than 3 months within the past 5 years
  • Unfortunately, sponsorship is not available for this role
