Protocol Education is working closely with a number of secondary schools across Telford and Shrewsbury, all looking for confident and adaptable Cover Supervisors to step in when teachers are away and keep the school day running smoothly.

This hands-on classroom role is ideal if you’re considering a future in teaching, returning to education, or simply keen to build meaningful school experience without the full responsibilities of planning and marking.

The Role

As a Cover Supervisor, you’ll take the lead in the classroom using pre-prepared lesson materials, so there’s no planning required. Your focus will be on creating a calm and consistent environment where pupils stay engaged and learning continues without disruption.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Supervising lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4
  • Following the school’s behaviour policy to maintain a positive learning environment
  • Supporting pupils with their work, including those with additional needs
  • Delivering set work clearly and ensuring lessons run smoothly

What We’re Looking For

  • Right to work in the UK, such as a passport or BRP with a valid share code
  • An Overseas Police Check if you have lived abroad
  • Experience working with young people, whether in schools, youth work, sports coaching, tutoring, or similar settings
  • Confident communication skills and a steady classroom presence
  • A calm and professional approach, even on busy days

Nice to Have, Not Essential

  • Training or qualifications in education, childcare, or youth work

What You’ll Get with Protocol Education

  • Weekly PAYE pay, with no umbrella companies involved
  • Free access to our CPD Academy
  • Ongoing support from a dedicated local consultant who knows the schools inside out
  • Opportunities across a range of secondary schools in Telford
  • Clear pathways into long-term roles and career progression

With all lessons and resources ready and waiting, you can focus on supporting pupils and building valuable classroom experience. Reliable transport is helpful to travel between schools in the Telford area.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see the FAQs on the Protocol Education website for further details.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
