Quantity Surveyor


Location: Aston, Birmingham with Hybrid / Flexible working.

Summary


A multi-disciplinary service provider for the rail and construction sectors are looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their team in the midlands working on various projects including a newly awarded civils package of works for HS2.


As a Quantity Surveyor you will be responsible for providing commercial support to the project team, maintaining commercial information, ensuring compliance with contractual requirements and ensure that the Company's objectives are achieved. 
You will also liaise with client representatives and other third parties on commercial issues including agreement of variations, claims and any additional payments.


Key Responsibilities for the Role:


-    Managing the commercial aspects of multiple civil engineering and infrastructure projects.
-    Preparing, submitting and agreeing interim valuations and applications for payment.
-    Identifying, pricing and negotiating variations and compensation events.
-    Preparing and managing project budgets, cost plans and cash flow forecasts.
-    Monitoring project costs, profitability and commercial performance.
-    Procuring subcontractors and suppliers, including preparing enquiries, analysing quotations and negotiating orders.
-    Administering subcontract agreements, valuations and final accounts.
-    Preparing monthly cost value reconciliation (CVR) reports.
-    Managing final accounts with clients and subcontractors.
-    Ensuring compliance with NEC, JCT and bespoke contract conditions where applicable.
-    Identifying commercial risks and implement mitigation strategies.
-    Working closely with Project Managers and Site Managers to maximise project performance.
-    Maintaining accurate commercial records and project documentation.
-    Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, consultants and supply chain partners.
-    Supporting estimating and tendering activities where required.

To be considered for the Quantity Surveyor role  your application should demonstrate the following criteria:

Essential

-    Degree in Quantity Surveying or Construction Management
-    Familiarity with NEC forms of contract and knowledge of current Construction Law.
-    Previous experience as a Quantity Surveyor within civil engineering, highways or infrastructure
-    Excellent commercial awareness and negotiation skills.
-    Strong analytical and financial management abilities.
-    Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.
-    Excellent communication and organisational skills.
-    Full UK driving licence

Desirable

-    Experience on major infrastructure or HS2 projects
-    Membership of RICS, CIOB or working towards professional accreditation.
-    Rail sector experience
-    Knowledge of CEMAR or other contract management software 
-    Experience within Tier 1 contractor or major projects environment

Salary / Benefits

Competitive salary of between £48,000 - £60,000 dependant on level of experience plus;
