Protocol Education is seeking talented and enthusiastic Higher Level Teaching Assistants to support a range of welcoming primary schools across Bristol. Whether you're an experienced HLTA or a highly skilled Teaching Assistant ready for greater responsibility, this is an opportunity to play a key role in helping pupils achieve their full potential.

As an HLTA, you'll be more than classroom support. You'll be trusted to lead learning, deliver interventions, cover lessons when required, and work closely with teachers to create engaging educational experiences for children across the primary age range.

The Role

No two days are the same. You could be:

• Delivering pre-planned lessons across EYFS, KS1, or KS2
• Leading intervention groups to boost pupil attainment
• Providing targeted support for children with SEND
• Covering classes during teacher absence or PPA time
• Supporting behaviour, confidence, and engagement in learning
• Working collaboratively with teachers and school leaders to achieve positive outcomes

What We're Looking For

We're looking for individuals who are confident, adaptable, and passionate about helping children succeed.

Essential Skills & Experience

• HLTA qualification or substantial experience working at HLTA level

• Previous experience within a primary school setting

• Confidence delivering lessons independently

• Strong classroom and behaviour management skills

• Ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents

• Understanding of a range of learning needs, including SEND

• A proactive, flexible, and professional approach

What We Need to Clear You

To ensure the highest standards of safeguarding, successful applicants will be required to provide:

• Passport or proof of right to work in the UK

• Two proofs of address

• A CV covering the last 10 years of work or education history, with any gaps explained

• References covering the previous two years

• An overseas police check if you have lived abroad for three months or more within the last five years
