Pay: £98–£120 per day, depending on experience

Protocol Education are recruiting for a Secondary Learning Support Assistant to work within a specialist SEND setting in Gateshead.
You will support secondary-aged pupils who may require additional help with learning, communication, behaviour, social development and independence.
This is a fantastic role for someone who enjoys working with teenagers and wants to help young people develop skills that will support them beyond school.
The role will involve:
- Supporting pupils across the secondary curriculum
- Providing 1:1 and small-group support
- Helping pupils engage with lessons
- Supporting literacy and numeracy where required
- Encouraging independence
- Supporting communication and social skills
- Promoting positive behaviour
- Helping pupils manage emotions
- Supporting transitions between activities
- Encouraging pupils to make positive choices
- Supporting practical and vocational activities
- Working closely with teachers and support staff
- Building positive relationships with pupils
You don't necessarily need to have worked within a secondary school before.
We would consider candidates with backgrounds in:
- SEND
- Youth work
- Sports coaching
- Behaviour support
- Care
- Residential support
- Childcare
- Mentoring
What matters most is that you are reliable, patient, confident and able to build positive relationships with young people.
Driving is essential
Due to the location of the setting, candidates must hold a full UK driving licence and have access to their own car.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
