Complex Needs Teaching Assistant – Newcastle

Protocol Education is recruiting a Complex Needs Teaching Assistant to work in a specialist secondary SEND school in Newcastle, supporting pupils with a range of complex additional needs.

You'll help create a structured, supportive environment where pupils can learn, develop and build greater independence.

Your day could include

• Supporting pupils individually or in small groups
• Helping young people access learning
• Developing communication and interaction
• Supporting emotional regulation
• Encouraging positive behaviour
• Helping pupils develop independence
• Supporting practical and life-skills sessions
• Following EHCPs and individual support plans
• Working alongside teachers and specialist professionals
• Recognising and celebrating individual progress

You will need

• Patience and understanding
• A calm and consistent approach
• Resilience
• Strong communication skills
• The ability to build positive relationships
• Flexibility and adaptability
• A genuine interest in supporting young people with SEND

Experience within SEND, education, care, youth work or support work would be beneficial, but transferable experience is also welcomed.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
