Complex Needs Teaching Assistant – Newcastle

Protocol Education is recruiting a full-time Complex Needs Teaching Assistant for a specialist secondary SEND school in Newcastle.

The school supports young people with a range of additional needs, providing personalised education alongside opportunities to develop communication, social and independence skills.

As a Teaching Assistant, you'll provide the day-to-day support pupils need to engage with learning and make progress towards their individual goals.

The role will involve

• Providing 1:1 and small-group support
• Supporting pupils with complex learning needs
• Helping young people access classroom activities
• Encouraging communication and social interaction
• Supporting emotional regulation and behaviour
• Developing independence and practical skills
• Supporting personal development targets
• Following EHCPs and individual support plans
• Working closely with teachers and specialist professionals
• Preparing pupils for greater independence beyond school

Your background could include

Education: Teaching Assistant, LSA or SEND experience

Care: Support Worker or Care Professional

Youth: Youth Worker or Behaviour Mentor

Graduate: Psychology, Criminology or Sociology

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
