Pay: £98–£120 per day, depending on experience

Protocol Education are currently recruiting for an SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a supportive school in Sunderland, working with pupils who may experience social, emotional and behavioural difficulties.

This role would suit someone who is calm, resilient and confident building strong relationships with young people.

The Role

As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will:

• Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils
• Help pupils manage emotions and regulate their behaviour
• Build positive and trusting relationships
• Encourage engagement with learning
• Support pupils to develop confidence and independence
• Reinforce positive behaviour strategies and boundaries
• Work closely with teachers and pastoral staff
• Help create a calm, safe and consistent learning environment

About You

We are looking for someone who:

• Has experience working with children or young people
• Has an understanding of SEMH or challenging behaviour
• Is patient, consistent and confident
• Can remain calm in difficult situations
• Is able to build positive relationships
• Has high expectations of pupils
• Is passionate about helping young people make progress

Experience in schools, youth work, care, sports coaching, mentoring or support work would be considered.

Requirements

• Relevant experience working with children or young people
• Enhanced DBS or willingness to apply for one
• Right to work in the UK
• References covering recent relevant experience
