Graduated with a Theatre, Drama or Performing Arts degree and wondering how to put your skills to meaningful use?

Protocol Education is working with schools across Keynsham and the surrounding area to recruit confident, creative and compassionate individuals for rewarding 1:1 Learning Support Assistant roles, starting in January 2027.

This isn't a drama teaching position. Instead, it's an opportunity to use the valuable transferable skills you've developed through your degree to support children who need encouragement, consistency and positive role models throughout their school day.

The ability to communicate effectively, adapt to different situations, build relationships, read emotions and think creatively are all qualities that schools actively look for, and they're often exactly what pupils need to thrive.

Why Theatre Graduates Excel in Schools

Your degree has equipped you with far more than performance skills. Schools value graduates who can bring:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Creativity and problem-solving abilities
  • Emotional intelligence and empathy
  • Confidence working with a wide range of personalities
  • Adaptability and resilience
  • The ability to engage, motivate and inspire others
  • Experience collaborating within teams
  • Confidence presenting ideas and building connections

These skills are particularly valuable when supporting children who may need extra help with confidence, communication, emotional regulation or engagement with learning.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Supporting pupils on a one-to-one basis throughout the school day
  • Helping children access learning and classroom activities
  • Building positive, trusting relationships with pupils
  • Encouraging confidence, communication and independence
  • Supporting emotional wellbeing and engagement
  • Working closely with teachers and support staff
  • Using creative approaches to help overcome barriers to learning

Every day is different, and every small achievement can make a huge difference to a child's confidence and future success.
