We are looking for an experienced Practice Accountant / Accounts Senior to join a well-established, friendly accountancy practice based in Worksop.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong background in accountancy practice who enjoys managing their own portfolio of clients, building relationships and delivering high-quality accounting and tax services.

Both full-time and part-time hours are available, making this an attractive opportunity for an experienced accountant looking for their next career move.

You will work closely with the Practice Owner, managing a varied client portfolio across sectors including industrial, transport and farming.

Duties include

  • Managing your own portfolio of clients, providing accounting and tax support from start to finish.
  • Preparing statutory and management accounts for a range of businesses.
  • Preparing and reviewing personal and corporate tax computations and returns.
  • Providing clear, practical advice to clients on accounting and tax matters.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients.
  • Liaising with HMRC and other relevant organisations.
  • Working with accounting software including TaxCalc, Kashflow, QuickBooks, Xero and Dext.
  • Keeping up to date with changes in tax legislation and accounting standards.
  • Supporting colleagues and contributing to the smooth running of the practice.

The ideal candidate

Previous UK accountancy practice experience is essential for this position.

To be considered, you will need:

  • A minimum of 3 years' recent experience working within an accountancy practice, ideally 5 years or more.
  • Proven experience preparing accounts and working with multiple clients in a practice environment.
  • ACCA qualified or currently studying towards ACCA, or AAT Level 4 qualified/studying.
  • Candidates with AAT Level 3 may be considered if they have substantial, relevant practice experience.
  • Strong working knowledge of UK personal and corporate tax.
  • Experience managing your own client portfolio or taking significant responsibility for client accounts.
  • Good working knowledge of accounting software.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organisation and communication skills.
  • Confidence working independently and building relationships with clients.

Important: This role is specifically for someone with previous accountancy practice experience. Unfortunately, candidates whose experience is solely within industry or in-house finance departments will not be considered.

Benefits

  • Full-time or part-time hours available (20 to 25 hours per week for part-time).
  • Salary up to £45k per annum, pro rata for part-time hours.
  • Employer pension scheme.
  • Study support available.
  • A friendly, close-knit team and supportive working environment.
  • Autonomy to manage your own portfolio of clients.
  • The opportunity to work directly with the Practice Owner and develop long-term client relationships.
