Teaching Assistant

About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join a supportive and welcoming school in Barnsley. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about education and making a positive impact on young people's learning and development.

Working closely with teachers and support staff, you will assist in delivering high-quality learning experiences for pupils across a range of ages and abilities.

Key Responsibilities

Support teachers in planning and delivering engaging lessons.
Provide one-to-one and small group support to pupils.
Assist students with their educational, social, and emotional development.
Help create a positive, safe, and inclusive learning environment.
Support classroom management and behaviour strategies.
Prepare learning resources and classroom materials.
Monitor and record pupil progress where required.
Encourage pupil engagement, confidence, and independence.

Requirements

Previous experience working with children in a school, nursery, or educational setting is desirable.
A genuine passion for supporting children's learning and wellbeing.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Patience, adaptability, and a positive attitude.
GCSE Grade 4/C or above in English and Mathematics (or equivalent).
An Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).

Desirable Qualifications & Experience

Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification.
Experience supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN).
First Aid certification.
Experience working in a classroom or child-focused environment.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
