Some children need extra support. Some need someone who won't give up on them.

If you're calm, resilient, and experienced in supporting children with behavioural needs, this could be a role where you genuinely change lives.

We're working with a welcoming specialist setting looking for an SEMH Teaching Assistant to support pupils who need help managing their emotions, building positive relationships, and engaging with learning. Every day is different, but one thing stays the same, your support will make a real difference.

What you'll be doing:

  • Supporting pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
  • Working 1:1 and in small groups to help pupils access learning
  • Managing and de-escalating challenging behaviour using positive behaviour strategies
  • Building strong, trusting relationships with pupils
  • Supporting emotional regulation and social development
  • Working closely with teachers, pastoral teams, and SEND professionals

We're looking for someone who:

  • Has experience supporting children or young people with behavioural needs
  • Can remain calm, patient, and consistent in challenging situations
  • Understands behaviour as communication and takes a nurturing approach
  • Has experience in schools, alternative provisions, youth work, residential care, mentoring, or similar settings
  • Is confident setting boundaries while building positive relationships
  • Has excellent communication and teamwork skills

Experience with any of the following would be a bonus:

  • SEMH
  • ADHD
  • Autism
  • Trauma-informed practice
  • Alternative Provision or PRU settings
  • Team Teach
  • Thrive Approach
