This is a great opportunity for an experienced Data Centre – Relay Commissioning Engineer (Protection & Control) to join a well-established client to support a hyperscale data centre commissioning programme.

Our client is looking for a Data Centre – Relay Commissioning Engineer (Protection & Control) to join them as a specialist, focusing specifically on MV/LV protection systems and relay commissioning - not general electrical commissioning.

Key Responsibilities Data Centre – Relay Commissioning Engineer (Protection & Control)

• Relay commissioning (L2–L4) within mission-critical infrastructure
• Commissioning of protection relays across:

o   RMUs

o   MV/LV transformers

o   LV switchboards

o   Working on MV switchgear (installed within E-Houses)

o   Primary and secondary injection testing

o   General electrical testing including:

o   HV testing

o   Ductor testing

o   Insulation resistance testing

• Commissioning and validation of networked protection systems
• Working alongside OEMs (including Siemens systems), Commissioning Authorities (CxA), and site teams within a live environment
• Following structured commissioning processes and documentation platforms (e.g., BIM360 / ACC)

Technical Requirements for this Data Centre – Relay Commissioning Engineer (Protection & Control)

• Strong background in Protection & Control engineering
• Proven hands-on experience in MV/LV relay commissioning
• Practical field experience in relay testing and commissioning (supported by project references)
• Experience working on MV switchgear
• Demonstrable expertise in general electrical testing (HV tests, ductor, insulation, etc.)
• HV/LV authorised and safety-focused
• Comfortable working in a live, high-pressure commissioning environment

Preferred Background

• Data centre, utility, or critical infrastructure experience
• Experience with Siemens protection systems
• Familiarity with structured commissioning plans and digital documentation environments
