KS1 Teaching Assistant

We're working closely with a welcoming and community-focused primary school in the BS4 area that is looking to appoint a Key Stage 1 Teaching Assistant to join their team from November or December.

With the autumn term well underway, the school is seeking someone who can provide consistency, encouragement and hands-on support to help pupils continue making progress through the academic year. This is a long-term opportunity running until October 2027, with the possibility of a permanent position for the right candidate.

The Role

As a KS1 Teaching Assistant, you'll play a key role in helping children develop confidence, independence and a love of learning.

You will:

• Support pupils across Key Stage 1 within the classroom
• Work alongside the class teacher to deliver engaging learning experiences
• Lead targeted interventions and small-group activities
• Provide 1:1 support for pupils who need additional guidance
• Support children with SEND and additional learning needs
• Help create a positive, nurturing and inclusive learning environment
• Encourage pupils' social, emotional and academic development

What We're Looking For

We're keen to hear from candidates who are:

• Experienced working with primary-aged children
• Confident supporting learning across KS1
• Patient, caring and able to build strong relationships with young learners
• Interested in SEND support and inclusive education
• Proactive, reliable and willing to get involved in all aspects of school life
• Strong team players who work well alongside teachers and support staff
• Hold an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or are willing to obtain one

School-based experience is desirable but not essential if you have relevant experience working with children.

What We Need to Clear You

• Passport or proof of right to work in the UK
• Two proofs of address
• CV covering the last 10 years of work or education, with any explained gaps
• References covering the last 2 years (including childcare references where applicable)
• Overseas police check if you have lived abroad for 3 months or more in the past 5 years
