English Teacher

About the Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated English Teacher to join a welcoming and supportive secondary school in Doncaster. The successful candidate will be passionate about delivering high-quality English education, inspiring students to develop strong literacy skills, a love of reading, and confidence in written and spoken communication.

This is an excellent opportunity for both experienced teachers and Early Career Teachers (ECTs) looking to develop their career within a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging English lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4 (Key Stage 5 experience is desirable).
• Teach a broad English curriculum, including English Language and English Literature.
• Foster a positive and stimulating classroom environment that encourages creativity and academic achievement.
• Assess, monitor, and report on student progress in line with school policies.
• Differentiate lessons to meet the needs of students with varying abilities.
• Maintain high standards of behaviour and classroom management.
• Support students in developing reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills.
• Contribute to the development of the English curriculum and departmental initiatives.
• Participate in extracurricular activities, including reading clubs, writing competitions, and school productions.

Requirements

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
• Degree in English or a related subject.
• Strong subject knowledge of English Language and Literature.
• Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to motivate and inspire students of all abilities.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
• Previous teaching experience is desirable; ECTs are encouraged to apply.
