A welcoming primary school in Ferryhill is looking for an Occupational Therapy graduate to join their team as a SEND Learning Support Assistant, supporting children across EYFS and KS1.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an OT graduate looking to gain valuable hands-on experience working with children and applying their knowledge within an educational setting.

The Role

You will support pupils with a range of additional needs, helping them feel confident, included and ready to learn.

  • Support children with SEND throughout the school day.
  • Assist with sensory, fine motor and developmental activities.
  • Encourage independence and confidence.
  • Support pupils with communication and engagement.
  • Help implement strategies recommended by external professionals.
  • Work alongside teachers and other support staff.
  • Help children access learning and participate positively in school life.

We're Looking For

  • A degree in Occupational Therapy.
  • Good knowledge of child development and SEND.
  • A caring, patient and proactive approach.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Previous experience working with children is desirable.
  • A genuine interest in supporting children to reach their potential.
