A primary school in Ferryhill is seeking an enthusiastic Occupational Therapy graduate to work as a SEND Learning Support Assistant, supporting pupils across EYFS and KS1.

If you're passionate about child development and want to understand how your OT knowledge can support children within the classroom, this could be an excellent opportunity.

What You'll Get Involved With

  • Providing one-to-one and small-group support for pupils with SEND.
  • Supporting sensory and fine motor development.
  • Encouraging pupils to become more independent.
  • Helping children develop confidence in the classroom.
  • Supporting communication and engagement.
  • Assisting teachers with personalised learning activities.
  • Implementing appropriate strategies to support individual needs.
  • Creating a positive and nurturing environment for pupils.

What We're Looking For

We're keen to hear from Occupational Therapy graduates who have:

  • A relevant Occupational Therapy degree.
  • An understanding of child development.
  • Knowledge or an interest in SEND.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Patience, empathy and resilience.
  • Previous experience working with children is desirable but not essential.
