OT Graduate – SEND Learning Support Assistant

Could you help remove barriers to learning?

A primary school in Ferryhill is looking for an enthusiastic Occupational Therapy graduate to join their team and support pupils across EYFS and KS1.

This role would suit an OT graduate who wants to gain experience working directly with children and develop their understanding of SEND within a school environment.

What Will You Be Doing?

You'll provide practical and emotional support to help children get the most from their school day.

  • Supporting pupils with SEND.
  • Helping children develop fine motor skills.
  • Supporting sensory activities and regulation.
  • Encouraging independence with everyday activities.
  • Helping children engage with classroom tasks.
  • Supporting communication and interaction.
  • Adapting activities to meet individual needs.
  • Working collaboratively with teachers and support staff.

What Do You Need?

  • Occupational Therapy degree.
  • Understanding of child development.
  • Interest in SEND and inclusive education.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • A patient and nurturing approach.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with children.
  • Previous experience working with children is desirable.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
