Level 3 SEND Teaching Assistant – Physical & Medical Needs

Location: Gateshead
Job Type: Full Time, Term Time Only
Start Date: September 2026
Pay: £120 - 140 per day, dependent on experience

Are you a Level 3 TA who wants to make a lasting difference?

We are looking for a dedicated Level 3 Teaching Assistant to join a specialist provision in Gateshead, supporting children and young people with a range of physical and medical needs.

You'll be part of a supportive specialist team, helping pupils access their learning, develop their independence and feel included in every aspect of school life.

The role offers the chance to build your experience in areas including assistive technology, specialist equipment, accessible learning and physical needs support.

Day-to-Day

You will:

  • Provide individualised support based on each pupil's needs.
  • Help children access lessons and wider school activities.
  • Adapt resources and learning activities.
  • Encourage independence and participation.
  • Support the use of specialist technology and equipment.
  • Carry out basic equipment checks and troubleshooting.
  • Follow individual healthcare and moving and handling plans.
  • Work alongside specialist teachers and other professionals.
  • Share observations and feedback about pupil progress.
  • Help promote inclusive practice within schools.

You'll Be a Great Fit If You Have

  • A Level 3 TA qualification or equivalent.
  • Previous experience within SEND, specialist education or a similar setting.
  • Experience supporting children with physical and/or medical needs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A calm, patient and flexible approach.
  • Good ICT skills and willingness to learn specialist technology.
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a wider team.
  • A full, clean driving licence and access to your own vehicle – essential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
