Protocol Education are currently recruiting for a Level 3 Teaching Assistant to work within a specialist Gateshead provision supporting children and young people with physical and/or medical needs.
The role combines hands-on pupil support with the use of assistive technology and specialist equipment to help children access their education as independently as possible.
You'll work closely with specialist teachers, schools, families and other professionals, helping to ensure pupils have the right support and resources around them.
Your Responsibilities
- Supporting pupils with physical and medical needs.
- Delivering and adapting learning activities.
- Helping pupils develop independence and confidence.
- Supporting the implementation of assistive technology.
- Setting up, testing and checking specialist equipment.
- Supporting accessible ICT and alternative communication methods.
- Troubleshooting basic equipment issues.
- Supporting safe movement, positioning and physical access.
- Following individual health and support plans.
- Working collaboratively with specialist teachers and other professionals.
- Monitoring progress and providing clear feedback.
- Supporting staff and families with equipment and inclusive practice.
Essential Requirements
- Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent.
- Experience working within SEND or specialist education.
- Experience supporting children with physical and/or medical needs.
- Good ICT skills and confidence learning new technology.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Good organisation and record-keeping abilities.
- Ability to work flexibly across different settings.
- Full, clean driving licence and access to a vehicle is essential.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a TA who wants to move beyond traditional classroom support and develop experience in physical needs, medical support and assistive technology.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
