Could This Be the Perfect Role for Your Occupational Therapy Skills?

You've spent years learning about child development, sensory needs, participation, and independence.

Now imagine putting those skills into practice every single day while helping children achieve things they never thought possible.

A welcoming SEND school in Gateshead is looking for Occupational Therapy students and graduates to join their team from May 2026.

What Does the Role Involve?

No two days are ever the same.

One day you could be helping a pupil regulate their emotions through sensory strategies. The next, you might be supporting fine motor development, building independence, or helping a child successfully engage in learning for the first time.

You could be:

  • Supporting children with autism, ADHD, and additional learning needs
  • Working alongside experienced teaching and SEND professionals
  • Delivering individual and small-group support
  • Helping pupils build confidence and independence
  • Promoting positive learning experiences across the school

Why This Role Is Perfect for Occupational Therapy Students

Everything you've learned matters here.

Your understanding of:

  • Sensory processing
  • Motor development
  • Emotional regulation
  • Individualised support
  • Child-centred practice

can make a huge difference to pupils who need additional support to succeed.

What's In It For You?

  • Fantastic experience within a specialist SEND environment
  • The opportunity to develop your practical skills every day
  • A chance to make a real impact on children's lives
  • Valuable experience for future Occupational Therapy careers
  • A supportive school team that will help you grow and succeed

If you're passionate about helping young people reach their potential and want a role that's challenging, rewarding, and genuinely meaningful, we'd love to hear from you.
