We're working with welcoming specialist schools across Gateshead that are looking to recruit caring and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistants to join their teams on a full-time basis from September.

You'll be supporting children and young people with a range of additional needs including Autism (ASC), Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), Speech and Language needs and complex learning difficulties. This is an incredibly rewarding role where you'll help pupils develop academically, socially and emotionally.

Whether you've worked in education before or have transferable experience from care, youth work or support work, we'd love to hear from you.

Your role will include:

  • Supporting pupils on a 1:1 and small group basis
  • Assisting the class teacher with engaging lessons
  • Promoting communication, independence and confidence
  • Supporting pupils with personal and emotional development
  • Implementing EHCP targets and behaviour strategies
  • Creating a safe, positive and inclusive learning environment
  • Building strong relationships with pupils, staff and families

We're looking for someone who:

  • Has experience supporting children or vulnerable adults
  • Is patient, compassionate and resilient
  • Can work as part of a team
  • Has excellent communication skills
  • Is passionate about supporting children with SEND
  • Holds an Enhanced DBS or is willing to obtain one

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
