Job Title: PMLD Specialist Teaching Assistant Location: Hackney, East London Hours: Full-time, term-time onlyMain Responsibilities Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with PMLD and complex learning needs.Assist teachers in delivering personalised learning activities and sensory-based lessons.Support pupils' communication using methods such as Makaton, PECS, AAC devices, objects of reference, and sensory approaches.Assist with personal care, including feeding, toileting, moving and handling, and mobility support where required.Work alongside teachers, therapists, and healthcare professionals to implement Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).Monitor and record pupil progress, behaviour, and wellbeing.Promote independence, communication, social interaction, and engagement in learning.Ensure a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment.Follow safeguarding, health and safety, and school policies at all times. Person Specification Essential Experience supporting children or young people with SEND, particularly PMLD, SLD, or complex needs.Patient, caring, and resilient approach.Strong communication and teamwork skills.Willingness to provide personal care and physical support.Commitment to safeguarding and inclusive education.
