
Facilities & Equipment Engineering Coordinator - Cambs
My clients in Cambridgeshire are looking for a Facilities & Equipment Engineering Coordinator.
This role is commutable from Cambridge, Bedford, St. Neots, Huntingdon, Sandy, Yaxley.
My client's R&D centre is currently working on a wide range of exciting research topics including: FlexOLED, Organic Photodiodes for x-ray and sensors, Organic Electronics, Bio-Sensors, Energy Harvesting and Storage, as well as OLED Lighting, at levels ranging from fundamental understanding to optimising materials and devices for market applications.
JOB PURPOSE:
To provide robust administration and control of Facilities and Equipment Engineering services, particularly with respect to compliance documentation, contract control, and scheduling of maintenance. To provide effective, practical support to the Facilities and Equipment Team.
MAIN ACTIVITIES:
• To develop and maintain robust records, information and administration systems to support:
o Statutory Health, Safety and Environment compliance, for example, Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations (LOLER), Fire, Legionella, machinery directive etc.
o Building maintenance, for example, building documentation, plans, Operation and Maintenance manuals, building project files, desk allocations and layout for office moves etc.
o Contract renewals and tendering and procurement for Facilities (including utilities, security, cleaning, office and kitchen equipment) and Engineering (maintenance contracts for plant and small equipment).
o Coordinate contractor visits to ensure maintenance is carried out at required intervals.
o Document control of Facilities and Equipment Health and Safety documentation including contractors’ risk assessments and method statements.
• To compile the yearly budget for Facilities and Equipment Engineering for review and approval and monitor expenditure against this.
• To compile a monthly activity report describing the activities of the Facilities and Equipment team including both routine and one-off tasks such as equipment repairs, and consumption of utilities.
• To monitor stocks for Facilities and Equipment Engineering, including cleaner’s materials, kitchen and stationery stock, order replacements and transfer to storage locations.
• To support the Facilities and Equipment Engineers, as required, through carrying out simple maintenance tasks and hosting contractors.
• To ensure that they understand and abide by the health, safety and environmental policies and procedures in place at all times.
• To ensure that the highest standards of compliance are maintained and supported within the scope of responsibility.
KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
Essential:
• Strong educational background, ideally to degree level.
• Work experience in an administrative support position gained within a premises, Health & Safety and/or Facilities role.
• Experience in management of compliance documentation and contracts in facilities and engineering.
• Strong IT skills, in particular MS Word, MS Excel and use of databases.
Desirable:
• Relevant work experience within a technical environment, preferably gained within a Research & Development organisation.
• Experience with Computer Aided Design (CAD) software to aid in producing office or building plans.

• Competent and able with the willingness to take on additional responsibility.
The role will be working on a part time basis, 30 hours per week across 4 or 5 days. Salary circa £30,000 FTE (c£24,000 prorate based on 30 hours) - flexible for the right candidate.
