Protocol Education is working with welcoming and inclusive schools across BS31 seeking dedicated Behaviour Support Assistants to join their teams from November 2026.

Some children need a little extra support to feel safe, understood, and ready to learn. That's where you come in.

This rewarding role is ideal for someone who understands that behaviour is communication and is passionate about helping children overcome barriers to learning. You'll provide the consistency, encouragement, and positive relationships pupils need to thrive both academically and emotionally.

What You'll Be Doing

As a Behaviour Support Assistant, you'll:

• Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils requiring additional guidance
• Support children to manage emotions and develop positive coping strategies
• Use de-escalation techniques and restorative approaches to promote positive outcomes
• Build trusting relationships that encourage confidence, engagement, and resilience
• Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral teams
• Help implement individual support and behaviour plans
• Promote self-regulation, independence, and positive behaviour choices
• Celebrate progress and achievements, no matter how small

Who We're Looking For

We're interested in hearing from candidates who:

• Have experience supporting children or young people with SEMH, SEN, or behavioural needs
• Understand trauma-informed and relationship-based approaches
• Remain calm, patient, and consistent in challenging situations
• Can establish firm but supportive boundaries
• Are reliable, proactive, and enjoy working as part of a team
• Believe every child deserves the opportunity to succeed

Experience supporting pupils with ADHD, ASD, anxiety, attachment needs, or trauma-related behaviours is beneficial but not essential.

What We Need to Clear You

To get you registered and ready for work, we'll need:

• Passport or proof of right to work in the UK
• Two proofs of address
• A CV covering the last 10 years of employment and/or education, with any gaps explained
• References covering the last two years, including education, childcare, SEN, or relevant support work where applicable
• An overseas police check if you have lived abroad for three months or more within the last five years
