As schools return from the break, many pupils benefit from extra support to help them settle back into routines, rebuild confidence and engage with learning. Protocol Education is working with welcoming primary schools across BS31 and surrounding areas to recruit enthusiastic, creative and compassionate individuals for rewarding 1:1 Support Assistant roles.

We're especially interested in hearing from people with backgrounds in acting, theatre, performing arts, music, dance and other creative industries who are looking for meaningful work that uses their strengths in a new way.

This isn't about teaching drama. It's about using your communication skills, adaptability and ability to build relationships to help children thrive.

Why Creative People Make Exceptional Support Staff

If you've worked in the creative industries, you already have many of the skills schools value most:

  • Building trust and rapport quickly
  • Communicating with confidence and clarity
  • Reading emotions and responding with empathy
  • Thinking creatively when challenges arise
  • Adapting your approach to different situations
  • Encouraging confidence and self-expression
  • Remaining calm under pressure
  • Bringing positivity, energy and enthusiasm into every day

For many children, these qualities can make a lasting difference.

The Role

You'll support a pupil on a 1:1 basis throughout the school day, helping them access learning, regulate emotions and build confidence as they return for the second half of term.

You may support children with:

  • SEND needs
  • Social and communication difficulties
  • Emotional regulation
  • Confidence and self-esteem
  • Engagement in lessons
  • Developing independence and positive routines

Success isn't always measured in grades. Often, it's helping a child join in, make a friend, overcome a challenge or enjoy school again.

Why Join Protocol Education?

  • Flexible work to suit your schedule
  • Competitive daily pay of £92-£94 per day
  • Weekly PAYE pay
  • Opportunities close to home
  • Friendly, dedicated consultant support

  • Confident building relationships with children
  • Patient, resilient and encouraging
  • Passionate about making a positive impact
  • Interested in education, child development or SEND
