Protocol Education is working in partnership with welcoming nurseries and primary schools across BS31 to recruit caring, dependable, and flexible Early Years Practitioners ready to complete registration and induction during December and begin placements in January 2027.

The Role

As an Early Years Practitioner, you will play a key role in creating a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment where children can flourish.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting children across the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)
  • Delivering engaging, play-based learning experiences
  • Encouraging communication, language, literacy, and early number skills
  • Supporting daily routines, transitions, and personal development
  • Leading small group activities and providing individual support where needed
  • Promoting positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing
  • Building strong relationships with children, families, and colleagues
  • Supporting children with a range of needs, including SEND
  • Following safeguarding procedures and maintaining a safe learning environment

About You

We're looking for someone who is:

  • Experienced supporting children within an Early Years setting
  • Calm, patient, and nurturing in their approach
  • Friendly, approachable, and confident building relationships with young children
  • Happy to get involved in play, learning activities, and care-based routines
  • Understanding of children's individual developmental needs, including SEND
  • Enthusiastic about helping every child reach their full potential

Level 2 or Level 3 Early Years qualifications are highly desirable.

What We Need to Clear You

To ensure you're ready to start in January, we'll complete your registration and compliance checks during December.

We'll need:

  • A valid passport or proof of your right to work in the UK
  • Two proofs of address, such as a driving licence, utility bill, council tax bill, or P45/P60
  • A CV covering the last 10 years of work and/or education history, with any gaps explained
  • Two years of references, including childcare references where applicable
  • An overseas police check if you have lived abroad for 3 months or more within the last 5 years

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
