Not every classroom success looks the same.
Sometimes success is a pupil entering the classroom independently for the first time. Sometimes it's joining a group activity, regulating emotions after a difficult moment, or finding the confidence to ask for help.
At Protocol Education, we're looking for highly skilled SEN Educators, SEN Teaching Assistants and SEN Support Specialists who understand that supporting children with additional needs requires patience, expertise, resilience and genuine passion.
We're working with a range of SEN schools, resource bases and inclusive mainstream primary settings across South Bristol, and we're seeking professionals with strong SEN experience who can provide exceptional support to pupils with a range of additional needs.
The Opportunity
These roles are ideal for experienced professionals who have supported children with:
- Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
- ADHD
- SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs)
- Speech and Language Difficulties
- Complex Learning Difficulties
- Sensory Needs
- Communication and Interaction Needs
- Challenging Behaviour and Emotional Regulation Needs
You'll be working closely with teachers, SENCOs, therapists and pastoral teams to deliver personalised support that enables children to thrive both academically and emotionally.
Whether you're supporting a pupil one-to-one, leading small group interventions or helping children navigate the challenges of the school day, your expertise will have a lasting impact.
Why This Role Matters
This isn't a role where you're simply supervising learning.
You're helping children develop confidence.
You're supporting emotional regulation.
You're creating strategies that allow children to access education successfully.
You're building trusting relationships that can completely transform a child's experience of school.
For many pupils with SEN, you will become the consistent adult who helps them believe they can succeed.

✅ Skilled in behaviour support and de-escalation strategies
✅ Comfortable adapting learning to meet individual needs

Backgrounds we regularly see succeed include:
- SEN Teaching Assistants

- Behaviour Mentors
- Family Support Workers
- Youth Workers
- Specialist SEND Practitioners
- Care and Residential Support Staff
- Psychology and Education Graduates with significant SEN experience
