The Opportunity
We are working with a respected civil engineering contractor delivering high quality infrastructure and framework projects across the UK. Renowned for delivery excellence and long standing client relationships, the business continues to grow and now seeks a Buyer to strengthen its procurement capability at its Leeds office.
This role is ideally suited to a procurement professional with experience in construction and/or civil engineering, who enjoys working in a fast paced, project led environment and values collaboration with site teams, suppliers, and commercial stakeholders.
 

The Role
As Buyer, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the successful delivery of projects by managing the end to end procurement process for materials, plant, and associated services. You will ensure best value is achieved while maintaining programme certainty, quality standards, and compliance requirements.
You will act as a key interface between site teams, estimating, commercial, and operations, supporting both live projects and tender activities across multiple frameworks.
 

Key Responsibilities
-    Procure materials, consumables, plant, and equipment for permanent and temporary works in line with contract requirements, drawings, specifications, and programme constraints
-    Source and negotiate with suppliers to support competitive tenders and ongoing project delivery
-    Monitor manufacture, lead times, and deliveries to ensure alignment with site programmes and possession requirements
-    Liaise with site management teams to confirm delivery schedules and resolve any supply chain issues
-    Manage supplier performance, addressing quality, pricing, and non conforming materials where required
-    Arrange procurement of maintenance, calibration, and certification services for plant, vehicles, and specialist equipment
-    Provide COSHH information and support safe and compliant use of procured materials
-    Work closely with Estimating, Commercial, and Operations teams during pre contract and delivery phases
-    Contribute to cost reporting and analyse materials usage to support continuous improvement
 

About You
To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:
-    3-5 years' experience in a Buyer or Procurement role (essential)
-    Experience within construction, civil engineering, or infrastructure environments (essential)
-    Strong negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills
-    Confident IT capability including MS Office (essential)
-    CIPS qualification or working towards (desirable)
-    Experience using COINS or similar procurement systems (desirable)
-    Exposure to rail or framework based projects (desirable)
