The role

As a Teacher of English, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality, engaging and purposeful English lessons across KS3 and KS4.

You will inspire pupils to become confident readers, thoughtful writers and articulate communicators.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Planning and delivering engaging English Language and Literature lessons.

• Teaching pupils across KS3 and KS4.

• Creating a positive classroom environment built around high expectations.

• Supporting pupils to make strong academic progress.

• Using assessment effectively to identify strengths, gaps and next steps.

• Differentiating and adapting teaching to meet individual pupil needs.

• Supporting pupils with SEND and other additional learning needs.

• Developing pupils’ reading, writing, vocabulary and analytical skills.

• Preparing pupils effectively for GCSE examinations where appropriate.

• Maintaining high standards of behaviour, presentation and participation.

• Working collaboratively with colleagues within the English department and across the school.

• Communicating effectively with parents/carers where appropriate.

• Contributing to the wider life of the school.

• Taking an active role in safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing.

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an appropriate recognised teaching qualification.
