Our client is a growing civil engineering consultancy delivering design solutions across the UK's rail infrastructure sector. Following successful senior appointments, we are now supporting in their expansion with Junior Candidates.
Supporting projects ranging from signalling renewals and electrification schemes through to station upgrades, level crossings and temporary works, they have built a strong reputation for delivering high-quality engineering solutions whilst investing heavily in the development of their people.
Due to continued growth and a healthy pipeline of secured projects, they are looking to recruit a Junior CAD Technician to join their Leeds office. About the Role
As an Junior CAD Technician, you will receive structured training and mentoring whilst supporting the production of engineering drawings for a wide range of civil engineering and rail infrastructure projects.
Working alongside experienced engineers and technicians, you will learn how to produce detailed 2D and 3D CAD drawings, assist with design delivery and gain exposure to every stage of the engineering design process.
This role would suit someone looking to begin a career or further develop a career within civil engineering design who enjoys problem solving, has strong attention to detail and is keen to develop new technical skills.
The key responsibilities for this Junior CAD Technician role are:
- Produce 2D and 3D CAD drawings under the guidance of experienced engineers
- Support the delivery of civil engineering and rail infrastructure design projects
- Assist with technical drawings, layouts and engineering documentation
- Attend site visits and surveys where required
- Develop knowledge of engineering design standards and CAD software
- Work closely with engineers and project teams to deliver high-quality design solutions
- Participate in training programmes and professional development activities
Experience required for this Junior CAD Technician role are:
- A genuine interest in Civil Engineering, CAD Design or Rail Infrastructure
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- Good attention to detail
- Ability to manage your own workload and work as part of a team
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn
- Commitment to completing an apprenticeship qualification
Desirable knowledge, skills and experience for this Junior CAD Technician role are:
- Knowledge of Bentley Micro-Station or TEKLA Structure
- Interest in engineering, construction or infrastructure
- Strong IT skills including Microsoft Office
- GCSEs or equivalent, particularly in Maths, English and Science
