Our Design Team

We’re a team of 115+ designers, researchers, and brand experts led by Chief Design Officer Vuokko Aro. We’re seeking an experienced Lead Brand Designer with a strong portfolio in branding, art direction and typography.

In this role, as part of a digital-first team, you’ll shape Monzo’s visual identity, deliver high-quality design solutions aligned with strategic goals, and drive innovative ideas as a conceptual thinker.

Key responsibilities

• Leading and overseeing end-to-end projects from ideation to execution
• Managing a small team of designers and providing mentoring and guidance
• Running design critiques and fostering a collaborative team environment
• Guiding external agency partners on design and creative concepts
• Developing, evolving and maintaining brand identities
• Hands-on design work in Figma, including typography, animation and campaign assets

What we’re looking for

• Proven track record in design roles with a strong portfolio demonstrating branding, art direction, product design, advertising campaigns and typography
• Experience managing designers and leading design projects
• Strong typography skills
• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and Figma (motion skills, 3D and AI tools are a plus)
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• Experience in fast-paced tech startups or creative agencies
