About The Opportunity - Quantity Surveyor

This is an opportunity to work in the heart of London at the forefront of one of the fastest growing sectors.

We are working with a specialist IT infrastructure contractor delivering major projects within the data centre sector. Due to continued project activity, they are looking to appoint an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team. Reporting to a Senior Commercial Manager, you will play an important role in supporting the commercial performance of major data centre projects from pre-construction through to completion.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor with mission critical experience who is looking to work on flagship projects within a growing and highly active sector.

Key Responsibilities - Quantity Surveyor 

As Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for:

• Providing commercial support throughout the project lifecycle.
• Monitoring project costs and performance against agreed budgets.
• Identifying commercial risks and opportunities and supporting appropriate mitigation.
• Managing variations and changes to scope, including the preparation of quotations and claims.
• Supporting monthly valuations, forecasting, cost reporting and cost/value reconciliation.
• Administering contracts and subcontracts in accordance with contractual requirements.
• Reviewing contract terms and supporting the management of commercial claims and variations.
• Working closely with Project Managers, Commercial Managers, Planners and operational teams.
• Building effective relationships with clients, subcontractors, consultants and suppliers.
• Supporting commercial negotiations and procurement activities where required.
• Ensuring commercial processes and procedures are consistently followed.
• Contributing to continuous improvement across the commercial function.

Key Success Factors - Quantity Surveyor 

• Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within construction, engineering or major project delivery.
• Previous experience working on Hyperscale Data Centre projects.
• A degree or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Construction Management or a related discipline.
• Strong commercial and contractual knowledge.
• Experience working with standard forms of contract such as JCT, NEC and/or FIDIC.
• Experience across cost control, valuations, forecasting, variations and claims.
• Strong negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
• Excellent communication and organisational abilities.
• Strong commercial awareness and an understanding of project risk and opportunity.
• Good attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.
• A proactive and collaborative approach to project delivery.
