The Company

Our client is a London Reformer Pilates brand with a product people genuinely love. Premium studios, brilliant instructors and classes that keep members coming back. They are growing, and we want people who take ownership. Give them a clear goal and real autonomy and they deliver. Do the job well and your work will be visible. There is a real career here.

The Basics

  • Salary: £40-£45k (depending on experience)
  • Working hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week with flexibility to work mornings, evenings and weekends depending on the needs of the business
  • Start date: Mid November
  • Location: Balham

The Role

The Studio Manager will take full ownership of the studio's people and operations, leading the supervisors and instructor team and shaping the rota and timetable that keep the studio running smoothly. Working alongside the master trainers, they will mentor instructors and help raise class standards across every concept on the timetable. With no financial reporting in the role, their focus stays where it matters most: the team, the member experience and the community.

Balham is a residential neighbourhood with a strong local high street. The Studio Manager will build the studio's presence through partnerships with local cafés and independent businesses, and community events that bring residents through the door.

Team Leadership

  • Lead, motivate and develop the studio team, including the supervisors and the instructor team
  • Set clear expectations, standards and accountability, with regular check-ins and feedback
  • Create a positive, supportive team culture where people want to stay and grow
  • Be visible on the floor, leading by example on service and studio standards

Rota + Timetable

  • Own the team rota, making sure early, mid, late and weekend shifts are covered
  • Build and manage the class timetable, balancing member demand, instructor availability and class mix
  • Manage instructor cover, holiday requests and last-minute changes calmly and quickly
  • Use attendance and booking insight to keep the timetable working for members

Instructor Mentorship

  • Mentor and support instructors, observing classes and giving clear, constructive feedback
  • Work alongside the master trainers on concept-specific training, technique and class standards
  • Help instructors develop their skills and confidence, and spot future talent within the team

Studio Operations

  • Own the day-to-day running of the studio, from presentation and cleanliness to equipment, maintenance and suppliers
  • Take ownership of health & safety and operational compliance
  • Deliver a warm, consistent member experience and resolve issues quickly and fairly
  • Keep the Head of Operations informed, flagging issues early and following through to resolution

Marketing + Community Partnerships

  • Drive local marketing activity to grow awareness and bookings in Balham
  • Build partnerships with local cafés, independent businesses and residential communities
  • Plan and run events, pop-ups and community initiatives that bring new people into the studio
  • Identify new opportunities to grow the studio's community and share ideas with the wider business

The Person

Experienced managing a Pilates, reformer, boutique fitness or wellness studio, with a track record of leading supervisors and instructors. A confident people leader who creates structure, accountability and a strong team culture. Experienced building rotas and class timetables, ideally across more than one studio or concept. Understands what great reformer teaching looks like and can give instructors credible, constructive feedback. A Pilates or reformer qualification is a plus but not essential. Community-minded and creative, with ideas for local partnerships and events and the drive to make them happen. Organised, calm under pressure and quick to solve problems on the floor. Takes ownership rather than waiting to be told what to do. Warm, polished and service-led, with genuine care for members and the team. Flexible to work early, late and weekend shifts when needed, with mid shifts as the core pattern. Experience with booking platforms such as Mindbody, Momence or MarianaTek is desirable.
