Location: Rotherham, South Yorkshire
Contract Type: Full-Time / Part-Time (Flexible Options Available)

About the Role

We are seeking a passionate, dedicated, and experienced SEN Teacher to join a supportive and inclusive educational setting in Rotherham. This rewarding role involves teaching and supporting pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs (SEN), ensuring they receive the tailored education and guidance required to achieve their full potential.

The successful candidate will create engaging and differentiated learning experiences whilst promoting academic, social, emotional, and personal development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons tailored to individual learning needs.
  • Teach and support pupils with a range of SEN, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
  • Develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and personalised learning strategies.
  • Monitor, assess, and record pupil progress, adapting teaching methods where necessary.
  • Create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, SENCOs, therapists, parents, and external agencies.
  • Promote positive behaviour, wellbeing, and independence.
  • Contribute to annual reviews, EHCP meetings, and pupil progress reviews where appropriate.

Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
  • Experience teaching pupils with Special Educational Needs.
  • Strong understanding of SEND legislation, strategies, and best practice.
  • Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
  • A patient, empathetic, and flexible approach to teaching.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
  • Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).

Desirable Qualifications & Experience

  • Experience working within a specialist SEN school, resource provision, or alternative setting.
  • Knowledge of Autism, ADHD, SEMH, Speech and Language Needs, and Complex Learning Difficulties.
  • Team Teach or other positive behaviour management training.
  • Experience working with EHCPs and multi-agency professionals.
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development in SEND.
