You will work alongside teaching staff to help students access the curriculum, develop their subject knowledge, complete coursework and make progress towards their qualifications.
In addition to supporting Travel and Tourism, the role will involve providing learning support in another curriculum area, potentially including Level 1 provision, Business or IT. We are therefore looking for someone who is adaptable and willing to contribute across different subject areas in response to students' needs.
Key responsibilities
- Provide in-class learning support to students studying Travel and Tourism at Levels 2 and 3.
- Help students understand subject-specific concepts, follow lesson content and engage with learning activities.
- Support students with coursework, assignments, research and the development of independent study skills.
- Reinforce teaching and learning strategies to help students make progress towards their qualification targets.
- Adapt support to meet individual learning needs and encourage students to develop confidence and independence.
- Provide additional learning support in another curriculum area, such as Level 1 provision, Business or IT, as required.
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff and the wider college team to promote positive student outcomes.
- Maintain appropriate professional boundaries and follow college safeguarding and student welfare procedures.
About you
The ideal candidate will:
- Have a good knowledge of Travel and Tourism, with the ability to support students working at Level 2 and Level 3.
- Be confident helping students understand subject content and complete assignments.
- Have strong communication skills and the ability to explain information clearly.
- Be patient, approachable and committed to helping students overcome barriers to learning.
- Be flexible and willing to support students across different subjects and levels.
- Be organised, proactive and able to work effectively as part of a team.
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to inclusion, safeguarding and student progress.
Experience working in a further education or sixth form college environment would be advantageous. Previous experience as a Learning Support Assistant, tutor, mentor or in a relevant industry role would also be welcomed.
