Sixth Form College | Kensington and Chelsea
Hours: Three days per week, with the possibility of an additional day for Music Technology cover
Inspire creativity. Develop talent. Make an impact.
We are seeking an enthusiastic, creative and flexible Performing Arts specialist to join our sixth form college in Kensington and Chelsea.
This is an exciting opportunity for a practitioner or teacher who is passionate about engaging young people through the performing arts and helping students develop their creative abilities, technical skills and confidence.
The core role will involve teaching Performing Arts for three days per week. There may also be opportunities to contribute to Music Technology and a small amount of Media teaching, depending on the successful candidate's skills and experience.
We have a particular need for additional Music Technology cover on five Fridays before Christmas. This may provide an opportunity to work a fourth day during that period.
Key responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging, well-structured Performing Arts lessons.
- Support students in developing practical skills, creative expression and performance techniques.
- Motivate students to participate, collaborate and achieve their learning objectives.
- Monitor student progress and provide constructive feedback.
- Contribute to Music Technology teaching or cover, where appropriate to your expertise.
- Support a small amount of Media teaching to help meet curriculum requirements.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to maintain high standards of teaching, learning and student support.
- Promote a positive, inclusive and safe learning environment.
About you
The successful candidate will:
- Have relevant experience, expertise or qualifications in Performing Arts.
- Be an engaging and effective practitioner who can inspire sixth form students.
- Be confident delivering practical and creative learning activities.
- Demonstrate flexibility and a willingness to contribute to related creative subjects.
- Have strong communication, organisational and classroom management skills.
- Be committed to student achievement, inclusion and safeguarding.
Experience in Music Technology and/or Media would be an advantage, although the primary focus of the role will be Performing Arts.
Working pattern
The post is envisaged as three days per week, with the potential for an additional day to provide Music Technology cover on five Fridays before Christmas. The precise timetable and any additional teaching responsibilities will be agreed with the successful candidate.
We would particularly welcome applications from candidates whose creative expertise could support more than one area of the college's curriculum.
