Can you stay calm when things get loud? Can you build trust with children who test it first?

This role supports Key Stage 2 pupils aged 7–11 with SEMH needs and emotional regulation difficulties.

This is not a passive classroom support role. You will be central to behaviour stability.

They need someone who is:

• Emotionally resilient
• Confident without being confrontational
• Consistent with boundaries
• Able to separate behaviour from the child
• Proactive rather than reactive

You must be comfortable holding firm boundaries calmly.


Daily Expectations & Routine

Morning Arrival
Support structured entry and emotional check-ins.

In-Class Support
• Work 1:1 with pupils during literacy and maths
• Redirect behaviour quietly and consistently
• Support restorative conversations
• Provide live feedback and encouragement

Unstructured Time
Lunchtime is supervised and structured. You will model positive interaction and help prevent conflict before it escalates.


Behaviour & Boundaries

• Swearing linked to frustration managed with redirection
• Verbal abuse not tolerated
• Clear stepped consequences
• Team Teach available long term
• Physical incidents rare but staff must be confident supporting de-escalation


Experience & Pay Scale

Experience in behaviour support, youth work or care settings is desirable.

However, it is not essential. Strong candidates with transferable skills can be appointed on a trainee TA scale with full mentoring.
